Having received a status of a Municipality in 1944, the Council works towards maintaining that status and to become a developing town. During the past years the Town Council has successfully implemented some of its projects. Highlights include provision of housing, infrastructure development, attraction of some industries, e.g. steel construction, charcoal production, tannery, taxidermy, etc. which contribute towards addressing unemployment. The Five Year Strategic Plan is in place with the expectation that it will create conducive existence to have more investors. The town is suitably located for tourism as it serves as a Gateway to the renowned “Etosha National Game Park.
Thus, the Council does not leave any stone unturned when it comes to tourism. The town is also surrounded by lodges and hunting farms and final products of hunters receive last touch up at the Taxidermy before it is exported. The population of the town is steadily growing and attraction of investors is of paramount importance. There are lots of opportunities for investment available as it was identified through the Feasibility Study and I am therefore inviting prospective investors to consider investing in Outjo. “Mayor, Cllr. Isaias . Katambo” (10/2009) |
